Food Portsmouth

FOOD Portsmouth is an independent organisation that aims to support, develop and promote a fair and positive, sustainable food culture across Portsmouth and Southsea. This includes tackling food poverty issues, developing our green urban spaces to grow food, supporting community orchard projects and social enterprises; an “umbrella” organisation, uniting food initiatives in the public, private, and community sectors.

Our actions contribute to making Portsmouth an active member of the Sustainable Food Cities initiative, harnessing sustainable food as a vehicle to drive positive change.

Good food, growing food, and sharing food can transform lives.

The food we eat impacts our lifestyle in Portsmouth and Southsea. It’s not just about our health – it’s about our communities and businesses, local food producers, and the environment too. FOOD Portsmouth aims to connect these together, and to reduce inequalities.

WE THINK FOOD SHOULD BE:

  • good for people

  • good for the place we live

  • good for our planet

Food in Portsmouth should also be affordable and tasty. Good food creates resilient, healthy communities. How food is produced should respect people, animals and the natural environment. How food is sold should support jobs, training and the local economy.

FOOD Portsmouth works with a range of people and organisations; whether an individual, a family, a school, a small business or social enterprise, a charity, or part of a large organisation, you can make a positive change! FOOD Portsmouth can provide advice and support to help you make informed decisions about good food.
